Guys, who gets it! I just had a terrible experience in Legian, but then again, maybe not entirely. It's this place called La Casa Mexican Bali, right across from Double Six Beach, with a whopping 4.8 Google rating, but... Anjay! That rating is probably more inflated than the ice in their cocktails!
The story begins just before we paid the bill. A smiling waiter came over, handed his phone directly to my friend, pointed at the Google review page, and"supervised" the whole process to make sure he gave a five-star rating. I was shocked. That move is so audacious[1]?! No wonder the rating is so high, it's all from"bullying-style" positive reviews!
The view is Mantap, but the taste buds can't Chill
To be fair, the rooftop view here is truly amazing. We got here just in time around 6 PM, and the sunset view directly facing the beach is simply unbeatable[2]. The sky burned from orange to pinkish-purple, and every photo you take is a masterpiece. With the sea breeze blowing, just to nongkrong with friends, the vibe is right.
But! When you actually want to eat something decent, things start to go sideways.
First of all, the background music was surprisingly hip-hop[3]. What happened to the promised Latin vibes? The DJ was frantically searching for songs on YouTube, and the music would cut out from time to time. You basically had to create the atmosphere in your own head.
We came for their signature Tacos[4], but they turned out to be lukewarm, even a bit cold[5]! The taste was okay, but with that temperature, I'm out. My friend's Burrito[6] and Quesadillas[7] were safe bets; the hot, gooey cheese was quite comforting. If you're feeling adventurous, definitely DO NOT order the beef Fajitas. One serving only comes with 8 small pieces of meat[8], not even enough for the four tortillas. Extremely poor value for money!
