For this legendary suckling pig, I really drove all the way to the middle of nowhere in Gianyar… Following the navigation, I drove around and around, and when I saw the scene at the entrance, I was shocked. The parking lot was full, and the queue stretched from inside the restaurant all the way to the street. I almost wanted to turn around and leave. A million 'what?!'s floated through my mind. Is this place really that amazing?[1]
But as soon as I walked in, all my previous frustration was instantly cured. OMG! It's so beautiful! 😭 The entire restaurant is a huge open-air pavilion, surrounded by endless green rice fields[2]. The wind carried the scent of rice, and sitting here Nongkrong (hanging out/relaxing) is just too Chill! It's completely unlike the greasy, fly-infested eateries I imagined. It's spacious, clean, and has a great design.
So, how's the taste?
Let's get to the point! I went straight for their signature Babi Guling Special[3]. Take my advice, you *must* order the Special set! The pork skin is the soul of the dish, roasted to a crackling crispness that'll blow your mind, and absolutely not greasy; the pork is so tender it bursts with juice, mixed with Bali's unique spices, so fragrant it'll make you swoon. And that pork satay, with its sweet and spicy flavor, was so delicious I wanted to pack 100 skewers to go![4]
What surprised me the most was the Pisang Goreng (fried banana)[5] from the small stall at the entrance. I didn't have high hopes, but after one bite… Oh no, the main dish is going to be overshadowed by this snack! It was fried to perfection, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with just the right amount of sweetness. Mantap!

Although I'm raving about it, I also need to be fair. Overall, their food is quite spicy 🌶️. As someone who loves strong flavors, I found it incredibly satisfying, but friends who can't handle spice might be so overwhelmed they question their life choices. Although some people online complain that the taste is overrated[6], honestly, with this price and environment, what more could you ask for?
Also, when it's crowded, the service is really slow… Once you've ordered, just relax and scroll on your phone. Don't rush them, it won't help anyway, haha.[7]
