Right after I arrived in Palembang, my friend mysteriously dragged me to this place, saying they wanted me to experience what it's like to be a "Commander". I was totally confused at the time. It's just for some meatballs, why all the fuss?
As soon as I walked in, I saw all the staff in camouflage uniforms, and they hit me with a "Selamat datang, Komandan!" (Welcome, Commander!). I just froze on the spot. Anjay! This experience is so immersive![1] The whole place, from the decor to the staff uniforms, is military-themed. It's clean and very photogenic, perfect for coming to Nongkrong with friends.

Since we were already here, we had to order the signature Grenade Meatball[2]! It's huge, like a small grenade. The moment you cut it open with a spoon, the chopped green chilies inside just burst out—the sight was so thrilling! Take a bite, and the spiciness of the chili instantly explodes in your mouth, but it's not the kind of overpowering, dry heat; it's a fragrant spiciness, Mantap! The meatball itself has a very firm texture and is super chewy.
My friend who came with me can't handle spicy food, so she ordered the Cheese Meatball[3]. She seemed to really enjoy it, so it's a delicious option for those who don't eat spicy food. We also spotted the new Grilled Noodles[4], and we definitely have to try it next time!
The ultimate antidote for the spiciness has to be their specialty, Nuclear Ice[5]! The name is scary, but it's actually a slushie with a bit of fermented cassava (tape) flavor. It's sweet and sour, cuts through the richness, and is a perfect match for the spicy meatballs.

But to be honest, the texture of the meatballs was just right for me, but a friend thought it was a bit too "kejal" (tough). Folks who prefer a softer texture might not be used to it. Also, while the broth is rich, you can tell the flavor of instant seasoning is a bit strong. It would be perfect if the original flavor of the beef bone base stood out more.[6]
