Whenever friends come to West Jakarta to Nongkrong with me, I always worry about not having a place to go. I never expected to find a hidden gem like this in the Permata Buana residential area.
The first time I saw that Javanese-style Joglo old house and all the greenery, it really felt like an urban oasis[1]. But… don't be too quick to praise it. The outdoor area during the day will truly let you experience what"scorching hot" means 😂, and there are quite a few flies, but more on that later.
The Vibe is Truly Mantap
The entire restaurant is built around a huge Joglo wooden house, full of intricate carvings. Paired with the garden, the atmosphere is maxed out once the lights turn on in the evening, making it very photogenic. It's especially suitable for events; I've seen many people host birthday parties, company dinners, and even weddings here[2]. The venue is definitely grand enough.
What surprised me the most is how super pet-friendly it is here! Not only can you bring pets, but there's even a special pool for dogs to swim in[3]! Isn't this just a paradise for pet owners! 🐶
The Food is Like a Blind Box, Some Hits and Some Misses
Speaking of food, I have to be honest, the experience was a bit of a mixed bag. Among the dishes I ordered, the Nasi Pecel Joglo[4] was a pleasant surprise. The peanut sauce had spices in it, so it wasn't overly sweet, and the flavor was very authentic. My friend also said the Bakso Goreng[5] he ordered was good, claiming it was one of the best he's had in Jakarta.
But I've also seen comments saying some dishes can be a miss, like soups being too salty or the sambal not being fresh[6]. The quality control seems a bit inconsistent. For drinks, you can try their specialty, Es Teh Joglo[7], which has a faint jasmine aroma and is very refreshing.
The prices are quite fair, though, around 100k IDR per person, and the portions are generous[8], so props for that.
