Every time I go back to Palembang, if I don't drag my friends to "test vocal" and belt out a few songs, the trip just doesn't feel complete. Lately, I've been hearing people say that the Masterpiece I often go to has opened a new branch at Transmart[1]. I heard the place is bigger and more comfortable, and the experience is a few levels up!
As a long-time fan, how could I possibly resist? I had to be the first to rush over and check it out for you all!

The moment I walked in, I felt like, Anjay, this place is brand new! The air has that "new venue" smell, the decor and design are on point, and the sofas are so soft you could sink into them. Even the small room we got felt quite spacious[2], completely free of that cramped KTV feeling. I snuck a peek at the VIP room, and man, was it luxurious and comfy. This is the spot for the next company team-building event!
When you get tired from singing, you've got to fill your stomach. Their food is actually pretty good, the flavors are on point, and the utensils and everything are sparkling clean, big plus for that[3]. But, to be fair, there's a bit of a difference between the menu pictures and the actual food. It's one of those "pictures are for reference only" situations, you know what I mean 😉.
BUT! The service really drags it down… 👎
No matter how good the hardware is, it can't make up for terrible service, girls. I don't know if it's because they just opened and are short-staffed, but it was so, so, so hard to get a waiter! The call button on the screen is just for decoration. My friend just wanted a glass, asked for it from the beginning of our session to the end, called for it countless times, and they didn't bring it for 3 hours. We were just speechless[4].
And the sound system, it's fine most of the time, but occasionally it will suddenly give you a little "surprise" with some static noise. The touchscreen for song selection is also a bit laggy, which really drives an impatient person like me crazy[5]. I hope the owner can optimize it soon!
