Was having dinner with a friend in Menteng over the weekend, and I thought Semaja downstairs was already top-notch, but my friend mysteriously said,"There's a secret spot upstairs." To be honest, if it weren't for the fact that it's run by the Ismaya Group, I might have actually passed on it.
The moment I went upstairs, Anjay! The vibe was instantly on point. The space isn't big, it has that typical dim, speakeasy vibe[1], with small tables close together, and the music isn't loud, perfect for gossiping with your besties. I was shocked when I opened the menu—this isn't a drink menu, it's practically an Indonesian cultural atlas! Every drink is named after an Indonesian place or cultural element, taking lokal flavors to a whole new level of creativity.
