If it weren't for a lokal friend leading the way, I really would have never found this amazing Korean restaurant hidden in a residential area of Sukoharjo. The entrance looks pretty unremarkable, and even a bit like a private art gallery[1], but the moment you push the door open, Anjay! I was just like, whoa!
The space is huge—half of it is a dining area, and the other half is actually a mini Korean supermarket[2]. This concept is seriously Mantap! The overall vibe is very chill, with warm lighting, perfect for coming with the girls to Nongkrong for an afternoon, chatting, gossiping, and taking photos.
As for the food… Keeping it real
The menu is quite extensive; besides Korean food, they surprisingly also have Indonesian fried rice and pasta[3], which is pretty impressive. We came for the Korean food, so we ordered a few of their signature dishes that are super hyped online, and the result... was an interesting experience.
🧀️ Cheese Tteokbokki[4]: To be honest, the first bite felt a bit like an instant product from a convenience store... The sauce was okay, but the texture of the rice cakes lacked a bit of soul. Maybe my expectations were too high?
🍗 Fried Chicken Wings: This one was polarizing. My friend thought it was super delicious, but I found the cheese flavor a bit too salty[5]. If you're a fan of strong flavors, you might absolutely love it.
🍙 Kimbab: The portion size was really generous, stuffed with beef and vegetables. But the flavor... was a bit bland, and aside from the crispiness of the cucumber, nothing else was very memorable[6].
So… is it worth a visit?
Although I complained about a few dishes, its 2400+ reviews and high score of 4.7 on Google[7] aren't for nothing. Taste is a really personal thing, and maybe I just didn't happen to order their absolute best dishes.
Also, the service can be a bit slow during peak hours[8], so both your stomach and your wallet will need some patience. The imported snacks in the supermarket aren't cheap, but what can you do, they're imported.
