A Taste of Batam Memories
The shop is newly renovated, with two floors, and is nice and clean. The first floor is semi-open and a bit hot, so I went straight to the second floor. It was indeed much cooler, better for Nongkrong, and there's also a VIP room with AC, very Cozy[2].

- Mie Tarempa[3]: Ordered the dry version. The texture of the noodles is really good, very chewy! The seasoning is rich, they give a generous amount of meat, and the sweet and spicy Sambal is very appetizing. Overall, it's delicious, absolutely Mantap!
- Luti Gendang[4]: I have to rave about this one! It's only 4k Rupiah each. One bite and you get that familiar sweet and spicy chicken filling, and the outer skin is fried just right. Anjay! The taste is exactly the same as what I had in Batam, I was instantly healed.
- Teh Tarik[5]: I also ordered the Teh Tarik, and it tastes a lot like the ones you get on the streets of Singapore or Batam.

Honestly, while their Mie Tarempa is tasty, if you're an ultimate purist, you might feel it lacks that little bit of "wildness" in flavor compared to the most veteran spots in Batam. It's more like a plate of well-seasoned fried noodles[6]. Also, as someone with a big appetite, I found the portion a bit small. After finishing, I felt like I could have another one[7] 🤣. And about the Teh Tarik, a friend said the quality isn't very consistent. Whether it's good or not depends entirely on which barista is on duty that day.
