Tired of Jakarta's concrete jungle, I drove out to Tangerang for the weekend. I wasn't expecting much, but when we got to the edge of Lake Cipondoh, I was instantly stunned the moment I saw Jagarawa.
A vast, open lake view, with Sundanese-style thatched huts (Saung) scattered along the water's edge. This isn't just a restaurant, it's practically a mini-resort! The air was filled with the vibe of 'nongkrong' and 'chill', and my mood instantly lifted. We chose a thatched hut right by the lake, and the view was absolutely incredible. Any photo you take looks like a masterpiece[1].
Perfect Scenery, But How's the Food?
No matter how good the scenery is, it's all for nothing if the food is bad. We came for their signature dishes, so we had to give them a try.

For an appetizer, we ordered the Tahu Granat[3], which was also a pleasant surprise. But what really put me off was the so-called 'mini zoo.' The little monkeys and parrots in the cages looked to be in poor condition, and the turtle pond was incredibly dirty. - Best time to go: I recommend coming in the evening so you can watch the sunset. But after dark, the lighting is a bit dim, which can affect the experience. Girls who are afraid of the dark, be warned[9].
- Must-haves: It's by a lake, so mosquitoes and flies are unavoidable. You must! MUST! bring mosquito repellent! Don't ask me how I know[10].
- Ordering guide: When ordering, just go for the grilled fish (Ikan Gurame); you basically can't go wrong with it. As for the other dishes, just leave it to fate and don't have high expectations.
