Girls, I've found another new spot for you to check out in West Jakarta! This new shop, Kopi Selamat Pagi, I was immediately sold when I saw pictures of it on TikTok. It has a pure white, minimalist style, and it felt like any photo taken there would be a 'photo of a lifetime'.
So I excitedly rushed over, pushed the door open... Anjay! I thought I had accidentally walked into some Pasar Malam... 🤯
😇 An Experience of Half Heaven, Half Hell
To be fair, the environmental design of this shop is truly Mantap. Large areas of pure white walls, a spacious layout with excellent lighting—every corner looks like it was meticulously designed for Instagram[1]. When the afternoon sun shines in, the atmosphere is on point, and you can just sit anywhere and get a great OOTD shot.
But! This is also where the problem lies. I don't know if it's because of the large glass and tile surfaces, but the echo in the whole space is terrible. Add to that the deafening background music, and you basically have to shout to talk to your friends[2]. For those of you who want to come here for a quiet Nongkrong or to WFC (Work From Cafe), I advise you to think twice.

Now let's talk about the food and drinks; the experience was also quite a ride.
I ordered their signature Kopi Selamat Pagi[3]. They said it has coconut powder in it. I thought it was okay; the sweetness and bitterness were well-balanced. But my friend who came with me thought there was too much ice and the flavor was a bit weak. The Americano, however, was criticized for tasting like instant coffee[4], but that really depends on personal taste.
For the main course, we went for the signature Bakmi Ayam Kampung[5], but it turned out to be a bit of a miss. The noodles were the chewy 'mie karet' type, but my bowl came out lukewarm... Plus, I overheard the next table complaining that their chicken wasn't cooked through. The quality is so inconsistent, right?!
Unexpectedly, the best thing of all was a fried banana dish called Pisang Kriuk Wijen Keju[6]! Sweet, soft banana, coated with savory cheese and sesame seeds, and they even gave a small dish of sambal sauce! A wonderful combination of sweet, savory, and spicy. It was so good I wanted to get a portion to-go! 😭

My long-time followers know I never blindly praise a place. The biggest flaw of this place, besides the noise and inconsistent quality control, is the service. It's really terrible. Especially the staff at the cashier, who had a sour face the whole time, as if I owed her millions. She was impatient even when I just asked a question[7]. Come on, we're here to chill, not to be judged by your facial expressions, okay? 🤷♀️ Two coffees and a snack cost a little over 100k. The price is normal, but the service attitude really isn't worth it.
