Before You Go to Mrs Sippy Bali, Know These 'IQ Taxes'
Escape to a tropical paradise at the new Bamboo Tiki Lounge downtown! This vibrant spot offers a full Polynesian experience with bamboo decor and classic exotica tunes. Sip on expertly crafted Mai Tais and Zombies from custom tiki mugs, or share the flaming "Volcano's Wrath" cocktail. With a menu of delicious small plates like kalua pork sliders and coconut shrimp, it's the perfect urban getaway for a fun night out with friends.
Friends, who gets it! After hanging around Bali for so many years, I thought I knew all the tricks of the various Beach Clubs like the back of my hand, but I still almost got tripped up by the 'unwritten rules' at Mrs Sippy. 🤦♀️
I just got to the entrance, and before I could even soak in the legendary party atmosphere, I was stopped and told I had to pay an entrance fee (ranging from 100k-200k IDR)[1]. Fine, standard procedure. But the most Anjay thing was, they actually forbid you from bringing your own towel and you have to rent one on the spot for 50k[2]! Well, before I even got in, my wallet was already a lot thinner. 💸
🤸♀️ Diving? Party? Or a Kids' Playground?
Complaints aside, once you walk in, that massive saltwater pool is pretty stunning! 💦 It's seriously huge, the water is crystal clear, and it's dazzlingly blue under the sun. The absolute focus of the whole place is that iconic multi-level diving platform, from 1 to 5 meters, where there are always brave souls doing all sorts of dives, instantly hyping up the atmosphere.
The daytime vibe is very Chill, with many families bringing their kids to play, making it feel like a big water park[3]. But as soon as the sun sets, the DJ comes on, and the vibe completely changes, switching directly into a massive Nongkrong scene. The music is deafening, it's packed with hot guys and girls, and the hormones are raging.
As for the food, we ordered a few small bites, and the Pork and Fish Tacos[4] were not bad, good for a light meal. I heard the new Jimbaran Style Grill[5] is also quite authentic, focusing on that Bali seafood flavor. Might give it a try next time.
🤫 Let's be real for a sec…
To be honest, it's definitely not cheap here[6]. A daybed has a minimum spend starting at 600k, and it doubles on weekends[7]. You'll easily go over just by ordering a few drinks and snacks. And the cocktails... how should I put this? They look great, but the alcohol is so weak it's like drinking juice[8]. If you want to get a buzz, you'll probably need to order a few.
Oh, and by the way, whatever you do, don't order the burger! The one my friend got was a total disaster. The quality of the patty was just... indescribably bad[9]. A true menu assassin.
📝 A No-Nonsense Guide to Avoiding the Traps
Finally, for the girls who are planning to check this place out, here are some solid tips. You're welcome!
- 1. Money-Saving Hack: Don't want to pay the entrance fee? Go after 5 PM, and you'll most likely get in for free[10]. Plus, you'll be just in time for the evening party!
- 2. Seating Strategy: If you want a daybed, you absolutely have to book in advance, especially on weekends! Otherwise, get there early to snag a good spot[11].
- 3. Getting There: The parking lot is ridiculously small, so driving there is just asking for traffic trouble. I recommend just taking a Gojek or a taxi[12] to save yourself the hassle.
- 4. Forced Purchases: Remember, you can't bring your own towels or water! Towels must be rented, so don't be a fool and carry your own all the way there.
- 5. Crowd Control: If you want to just Chill quietly, it's best to avoid the peak hours from the afternoon to the evening. Otherwise, you might get a headache from the screaming kids and the heavy bass of the party[13].
