Listen up! Know these 4 things before ShiShi in Bali, or your wallet will cry
Step into the chic world of Bar Sprezzatura, a new Italian aperitivo bar in San Francisco's Financial District. From the team behind Che Fico, this spot channels 1960s coastal glamour, offering a sophisticated escape. Sip on classic spritzes and negronis while indulging in elegant small snacks like whipped ricotta crostini and sausage-stuffed fried olives. It’s the perfect destination for after-work drinks or a stylish, light meal, capturing the essence of effortless Italian elegance.
Just got out of ShiShi in Seminyak, and my head is still ringing with deafening R&B and the sweet, fresh taste of oysters lingers in my mouth... This experience of seamlessly transitioning from a refined Japanese dinner to a massive clubbing scene is just surreal! 🤯
The Izakaya Lounge on the first floor is described as an all-you-can-eat Japanese meal, but it feels more like a Tapas feast of Asian fusion cuisine. The whole place is surrounded by giant LED screens with changing lights and shadows, making it feel like you're dining in a futuristic aquarium[1]. The atmosphere is absolutely on point! We ordered about thirty dishes, All-You-Can-Eat within two hours. The value for money is truly Mantap!
My Personal Hits and Misses for Ordering
Can't-Go-Wrong Orders:
For dessert, you can try:
Once you're full, you can head straight upstairs for the second half of the night. The second floor is for EDM, and the third floor is for R&B, so you can choose based on your preference. I have to say, this all-in-one "dinner then clubbing" service really gets us young people!
- Oysters: A must-order! So fresh it'll make you question reality, with a clean, sweet taste of the sea. I could devour a dozen all by myself[2]!
- Grilled Tenderloin: A meat lover's dream! Cooked just right, the meat is incredibly tender. My friend was so obsessed they ate five plates[3]...
- Half Moon Scallop: The seasoning is amazing, delicious and delicate, easily matching the quality of an à la carte dish.
- Chocolate Sphere: It arrives as a complete sphere, and then you pour hot chocolate sauce over it to watch it melt. Both the presentation and the taste are on point[4].
⚠️ Real Talk Time
OK, enough with the praise, let's get real. While the overall experience is great, there are a few things I have to get off my chest:
- 1. Quality control can be a bit hit-or-miss: Some regulars say the quality isn't what it used to be. My meal was fine this time, but I've heard that sometimes the steak can be overcooked and dishes too salty[5]. It feels like it depends on your luck.
- 2. Conversations basically require shouting: The music in the first-floor dining area is really loud, making it almost impossible to have a proper conversation with friends[6]. It's better suited for just digging into your food and soaking up the atmosphere.
- 3. Different entry fees for men and women: The club's cover charge is different for men and women. It's about 350k for guys and 150k for girls[7], including one drink. Although this is standard practice for Bali nightclubs, guys should still hold on to their wallets!
✍️ Editor's Guide to Avoiding Pitfalls
Finally, for the girls planning to check this place out, I've put together some foolproof tips. You're welcome!
- You MUST book in advance! This place is insanely popular, especially on weekends. You basically won't get a table without a reservation. I highly recommend booking a slot between 8-9 PM to get the freshest dishes[8].
- Follow the Dress Code! The security at the door will check. The requirement is 'upscale fashionable'[9]. Don't even think about wearing flip-flops, tank tops, or shorts. Dress up nicely for the photos!
- Remember the ordering rules: For the all-you-can-eat, each person is limited to ordering 3 dishes at a time. You can only order more after your current dishes have been served[10]. It's a psychological tactic to make you feel full by eating slowly, haha.
- Parking is inconvenient: There's no parking right in front of the restaurant. You'll need to follow the security guard's directions to a nearby parking lot[4]. I suggest just taking a Grab there to save yourself the hassle.
