This lush, green sanctuary offers breathtaking 360-degree skyline views, making it the ultimate spot for sunset drinks. Sip on garden-inspired cocktails like the Lavender Haze and graze on Mediterranean small plates. With a relaxed yet sophisticated vibe and cozy fire pits, it's the perfect
Who gets it, friends? It's so hard to find a quiet place to Nongkrong in South Jakarta! Especially in the Blok M area, it's either super loud or super crowded. 🤦♀️
I recently discovered a hidden gem of a Speakeasy Bar, The Golden Tooth. It's hidden above the Rumu restaurant, and the entrance is incredibly discreet. If my friend hadn't shown me the way, I probably would have walked around downstairs three times and still not found the door. The moment I followed the guy at the door up to the third floor and pushed the door open, it felt like I was entering some kind of secret society, Anjay! 😎
A Drink, A Story
The moment I walked in, I instantly fell in love with the high-ceiling loft design. The industrial-style concrete walls paired with warm lighting create the perfect ambiance. They play R&B music at just the right volume, so you can chat with friends without any effort. This point alone beats 90% of the bars in Jakarta[1].
But the drink menu is the real star of the show; the creativity is wild. My boozy friend went straight for a glass of their signature Robusta Negroni[2]. Wow, that thing packs a punch! The coffee flavor is super strong, it feels like a double-shot Negroni with a serious kick. After drinking it, I felt like I could pull three more all-nighters. Mantap! 💪
As someone who can't handle bitterness, I played it safe and ordered a Hillary's[3]. It has a mezcal base, but the fruity flavors of pineapple and mint are very prominent. It's super refreshing and smooth on the palate, a perfect choice for beginners that you definitely can't go wrong with.
The most interesting one was my friend's Smokey Highball[2]. On the first sip, I surprisingly got the illusion of smoked bacon! After asking, I found out it's made with sparkling water infused with Lapsang Souchong tea. I give them full marks for this creative idea! 💯
Let's be real…
Honestly, the drinks are good and the creativity is on point; there's a reason they just made it onto Asia's 50 Best extended list (at number 98). But the prices are definitely not cheap, and a single drink will make your wallet hurt a little. Also, some of their drinks might be a bit "too sweet" for people who don't have a sweet tooth[4], so it's best to communicate your preferences clearly to the bartender when you order.
Tips to avoid pitfalls/save time (Save this now!)
For the girls who want to check it out, take my advice, and your experience will be 80% better:
- Best time: Go around 5-6 PM! It's less crowded and quiet, and you can catch the sunset. The sunlight streaming through the glass roof is amazing for photos[5]. It gets super crowded after 9 PM on weekends!
- How to get in: The bar is on the third floor above Rumu restaurant. Don't just wander around downstairs like a fool; find the staff member at the entrance, and they will take you in[6].
- About food: They don't have a full food menu, but you can order delivery! This is so considerate. You can order some good food first and then go up to chill[6].
- Pro-tip: If you don't see anything you like on the menu, don't be afraid to make a request to the bartenders, Kenny or Bernard! They are more than happy to create a secret, off-menu special cocktail based on your taste[5].
