While the industrial-modern interior is a major draw, be warned: this popular cafe gets incredibly loud and crowded, feeling more like a marketplace than a chill hangout. Come for the amazing coffee and cool vibes, but don't plan on a quiet work session or a leisurely meal, as the spot has its fair share of pitfalls.
Senopati on a weekend is not chill at all. The moment I walked into Ombé Kofie, the wave of noise almost made me turn back. The whole space was buzzing, felt like walking into a wet market 🫠. Everyone was shouting at the top of their lungs. Want to Nongkrong quietly? Forget about it.
But to be fair, the ambiance is really photogenic. High ceilings, large green plants, and a perfect blend of industrial and modern styles. No wonder all the cool guys and girls of Jakarta flock here. The founder Om J's idea of making the cafe a community space is great, but when it gets crowded, the community instantly turns into a marketplace!
After queuing to order at the counter[1] (that's right, no table service here), I got their signature Nimbus Black coffee[2]. One sip, and wow, Mantap! The quality of this coffee is truly impeccable, with a rich flavor and well-made foam. For this cup of coffee alone, the earlier noise felt worth it.
I also tried a main course, and the Chicken Pesto Pasta[3] was not bad. The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the pesto sauce was flavorful enough. But my friend's Porchetta Carbonara[4] was a bit... how should I put it? The pork belly was crispy, but the pasta itself was a bit clumpy and just felt like it was missing something. The conclusion is, come here mainly for the coffee.
But, girls, you'll need to hold on to your wallets. A cup of coffee costs around 60-70k[5], and the portion is small, so the value for money isn't great. What I want to complain about the most is the service. They really seem to treat customers differently, and it's very hit-or-miss. I personally saw the table next to me get hints from the staff to leave after just a few sips. That feeling of being rushed is such a turn-off 🙄.[6]
