Went to Senayan Park over the weekend and on a whim, decided to eat at Gyu-Kaku, but the sight of the line at the entrance almost made me give up... I took one look at the waiting list, and oh man, it said the wait could be 90 minutes[1]. Anjay! I almost turned around to go Nongkrong somewhere else, but for that legendary lake-view seat, I stuck it out!
When it was finally my turn, I quickly told the waiter I wanted a window seat. The moment I sat down and looked at the lake view outside, I felt that the wait was... maybe just a little bit worth it[2]. To be fair, the view at this location is definitely top-tier among all the Gyu-Kaku branches in Jakarta.
The standard buffet is about 248k IDR per person, and the meat quality is still on point, as expected from Gyu-Kaku. The meat is fresh and juicy[3], sizzling on the grill, who could resist that aroma! With a buffet, you definitely have to eat your money's worth, and the unlimited Kimuchi Trio[4] is especially appetizing. It's sour and spicy, a perfect match for the BBQ. I also tried their recommended Garlic Suki Shabu[5], which tasted pretty good, but personally, I still prefer the BBQ haha.
Finally, you have to save room for dessert! Their Milk Pudding[6] is an absolute stroke of genius. The texture is silky smooth and it's super milky, so delicious I wanted to order one to-go! Mantap!
Honestly though, the service at this place can be a bit hit-or-miss. It was crowded when I went, and the staff were running around like crazy. I had to ask several times for additional orders[7], which slightly detracted from the experience. But some friends have said it's much better during off-peak hours, so... you guys can judge for yourselves😂.
