To be honest, as a long-time fan of the Ismaya Group, I've eaten at so many Kitchenette locations, but I always felt... emmm... they were just okay, a safe option for social dining.
Until I was strolling through PIM 1 yesterday and randomly walked into this one, Anjay! I was totally shocked! The atmosphere is on a completely different level from the other branches, okay?! It's not that cookie-cutter chain store decor; the PIM location really has that European street-side bistro vibe[1]. The warm yellow lighting, comfy seats, the whole space just has this magic that makes you want to sit down and just chill.
Immersive 'Cloud' Dining
Perfect for when you want to nongkrong and gossip with your girlfriends, or bring your family for a comfortable dinner. The food quality is also on point, totally worthy of the ambiance.
The signature Mentaiko Pasta[2] I ordered didn't disappoint. The savory umami of the mentaiko and the cream sauce were perfectly balanced, and every bite was super satisfying. My companion's Roasted Chicken[3] was also roasted to have crispy skin and tender meat, with the juices locked in well—no wonder it's a house specialty. For dessert, we went for the Biscoff Crumble[4], the GOAT! But a heads-up, some of their crepes have huge portions, so you'd better come challenge it on an empty stomach 🤣.
But hold on, let me be real with you
Although it's great overall, your girl has to be fair. The place can be a bit of a hit-or-miss sometimes. For example, a friend once ordered the lasagna, and it was scalding hot on the outside but still frozen on the inside[5], which is just not acceptable, you know... And the beef in the Thai Beef Salad was a real test for your teeth. As for the price, it's not cheap for Jakarta, easily 200k+ per person, so it's more suitable as a choice for treating yourself once in a while.
