Just got back from Bandung, and I absolutely have to talk about Alun-Alun Bandung, this amazing place. It's no exaggeration to call it Bandung's city living room. The experience is very Mantap, but there are also a lot of downsides
OK, enough praise, let's get real. The experience at this place is truly polarizing!
The upside is that the atmosphere is absolutely fantastic. That big lawn makes you want to take off your shoes and roll around on it[1]. And the snacks sold nearby, like Batagor and Cilok, are cheap and authentic[2].
But the downsides are equally fatal! The weekend crowd is an absolute disaster, so noisy it makes you question your life choices[3]. Plus, the hygiene situation is worrying, trash is everywhere on the lawn, and the management is really not great[4].
The absolute biggest thing I want to complain about is the underground parking lot! Girls, promise me, do NOT drive there! It's dark, damp, and dirty, with water dripping from the ceiling, making it feel like a horror movie set. And there are unofficial people who come directly to ask for money after you park, demanding 20-25k[5] right away – pure rip-off!
