I sat down and ordered a set meal with 5 dishes, which was about 99k Indonesian Rupiah. I was quite looking forward to it while waiting for the food, thinking I could try many flavors at once, Mantap!
But when the plate arrived, my eyes widened in disbelief. Is this… not a sample portion?[1] Every item was pathetically small, the avocado mash was as watery as… water, and the coffee was as weak as dishwater[2]. My seat was right next to the main road, with motorcycles whizzing by, so there was no way to properly Chill[3].
To be fair, it wasn't entirely without merit. The Meatballs[4] were surprisingly delicious, which was the only consolation for this meal. But if you're coming for Dutch specialties, definitely don't order the Stroopwafel[5]; it was cold and unappetizing. My Dutch friends would probably faint from anger on the spot.
