I was originally ready to go into full complaint mode, but after sitting down and looking around, most of my anger instantly disappeared. The ambiance here is truly impeccable, Mantap! 👍
The sense of space is amazing, it's clean and comfortable. You can choose to sit on the tatami mats, curl up on an indoor sofa, or go outside for some fresh air. What touched me the most was that there are power outlets next to almost every seat! The Wi-Fi is fast too![2] For someone like me who needs to pull out their laptop to work at any moment, this is basically heaven! It's so perfect for WFC (Work From Cafe).
As for the Taste, It's a Bit of a Schrödinger's Cat
After waiting for almost half an hour, our food finally arrived. The moment I took a bite of the green chili fried rice (nasi goreng cabe ijo)[3] I ordered, mmm, so fragrant! It had that perfect 'wok hei' aroma and was just the right amount of spicy. It was so delicious I'd be willing to wait another half hour for it. My friend's Umah Lou Signature Fried Noodles[4] was also quite good, with that familiar Indonesian street food flavor we know.
BUT! And it's a big BUT! Not all the dishes are this reliable. The mixed vegetable stir-fry another friend ordered was just mediocre, and the coffee was just 'B aja' (so-so) quality[5]. Also, for the dishes listed on the menu as suitable for 3-4 people to share, the two of us finished it and felt it was just right. That portion size... you guys get it.[6]
