In Pekanbaru and suddenly got a craving for Jakarta food, all I could think about was that rich Soto Betawi. I found this place with a 4.7 Google rating, and seeing the name "Soto Betawi 999," I thought, "This has to be good," and went for it!
The shop has that very lokal, homey feel—clean, bright, with quick service. A typical old-school neighborhood Indonesian eatery style. I didn't even look at the menu much and went straight for their signature Soto Betawi. After all, that's what I came for.
Unexpectedly, the Star Wasn't the Soto!
