But to be honest, every time I take people there, my feelings are a bit complicated... it's a love-hate relationship! 😂 So today, I have to set the record straight: is this place really worth the hype?

Immersive 'Wet Market' Ordering, a Full-On Experience

Don't be confused when you walk in; you don't just sit down and order from a menu here. You first have to go to the bustling"Pasar Ikan" (Fish Market) area, push a cart, and pick your own seafood. Lively crabs, mantis shrimp, and all sorts of fish are swimming right in front of you. See something you like? Just ask one of the guys to scoop it up, weigh it, and then you choose your preferred sauce and cooking style. This experience of holding the power of life and death in your own hands is truly Mantap! 🤙

There were a lot of us this time, so we ordered a whole table full. I strongly recommend a few of my personal favorites:

We specifically booked a table by the sea. Feeling the sea breeze while watching the sunset in the evening—that vibe is just incredible. The whole restaurant is as huge as a public square, and there's even a live band. It's perfect for a large group of friends to come Nongkrong and dine together, maxing out the atmosphere.

• Salted Egg Yolk Squid (Cumi Telor Asin)[2]: The absolute star of the show! The sauce is rich and evenly coats every piece of chewy squid. It's so fragrant you'll want to lick the plate.
• Honey Grilled Prawns (Udang Bakar Madu)[3]: Sweet with a hint of charcoal aroma, the prawn meat is firm and springy. Everyone who tries it loves it, and even kids can handle it.
• Grilled Squid (Cumi Bakar)[4]: Cooked to perfection, slightly charred on the outside but incredibly tender on the inside. Simple seasoning is all it needs to be delicious.

So, you want to have a great meal without getting frustrated? Please take these hard-earned lessons of mine:

• ⚠️ Ticket Warning: The restaurant is inside the Ancol Dreamland park, so you have to buy an entrance ticket to the park first[8]! Don't be a fool and get all the way to the entrance only to find out you can't get in.
• 🪑 Reservations! Reservations! Reservations!: Want a sea-view seat to watch the sunset? I'm begging you, call and book in advance[9], or you'll end up in some forgotten corner smelling the cooking fumes.
• ⏰ Avoid Peak Hours: If your schedule is flexible, I strongly recommend coming on a weekday! The experience is a hundred times better. If you absolutely must go on a weekend, then get there early and pick out your seafood before the main rush.
• 🌶️ Attention, Spice-Averse People: Indonesian food is spicy by default! If you can't handle spice, you must repeatedly emphasize"Jangan pedas!" (not spicy) when ordering, or you'll be hit with a spiciness that makes you question your life choices[10].
• 🎂 Birthday Surprise: If it's a friend's birthday, you can let the staff know in advance. They will come over with a banner, singing and celebrating with you. It's a moment of glory for your extroverted friends, and a public execution for your introverted ones[11].
