Every time I pass through the lobby of Senayan Sentral I, I'm drawn to this island coffee bar called Two Thrds Coffee. The design is truly impeccable—minimalist and photogenic, it just looks Mantap! I thought to myself, this place is opened by the well-known coffee brand People Temple[1] and is equipped with a top-of-the-line machine like the Astoria Tempesta, so it must be king-tier, right? The result... Anjay! I can only say, the higher the expectation, the bigger the"surprise."
Following the top recommendation, I ordered the signature Two Thrds Latte[2] and eagerly awaited my first sip... Huh? I was hit by an overwhelming sweetness! It was like an iced coffee milk loaded with syrup, so sweet it made my head spin, and the sweetness level couldn't be adjusted at all. I timidly asked the staff, and with a cool"you don't get it" look on their face, they replied,"Our signature is sweet. If you don't like sweet drinks, you should have ordered a Flat White." Alright then, my bad. 🤷♀️
Not giving up, I tried their Matcha Latte[3]. A friend said it was good, but when I asked, I found out—wow—it's made from a pre-sweetened powder mix, and the sweetness level is also fixed. It costs 50k[4] for a cup, and for a"premium instant mix" where you can't even choose the sweetness... I'll let you guys be the judge of that value for money. But that's not even the main point. The biggest complaint has to be the service! Getting a cold shoulder the whole time is one thing, but they were also unresponsive when I asked about the menu. The craziest part is, when the coffee is ready, they just shout from the counter for you to come get it yourself[6]. The feeling... it's like you're not there for coffee, but to line up for food in a cafeteria. What a total waste of such great equipment and good coffee beans.
