Girls, sometimes when you're feeling lazy and want to find a place to Nongkrong, the first thing that pops into your head is Pizza Hut, right? 😂 After all, it's spacious, parking is convenient, and everyone knows it. I recently went to the Kupang Indah branch in West Surabaya, and the result... how should I put it, it was a bit hard to describe, yet also a little surprising.
Familiar Recipe, Unexpected Surprises
This place is really big, with so many parking spaces you can park anywhere, no need to worry at all. As soon as you enter, it feels perfect for families or a large group of friends to dine together[1], the atmosphere is very Chill. There's also a dedicated outdoor smoking area, which is very friendly for smoker friends.
Sitting down to order, we didn't play by the usual rules. We'd long heard that their pasta and appetizers were even better than their pizza[2], so we ordered some to try first. How to describe it, while it's not that authentic Italian hardcore taste, it is indeed an improved version closer to our Indonesian palate[3], with rich sauce, and quite pleasant to eat.
Of course, we also ordered the main character, pizza, choosing the most classic Meat Lover[4]. The cheese was stringy, and there was plenty of meat – it was that familiar, safe taste you can imagine with your eyes closed. Not amazing, but definitely won't go wrong.
What made me happiest was the dessert after the meal! The Sizzlin’ Choco Fudge[5] with chocolate brownie and ice cream came out sizzling, who understands the joy of a calorie bomb!
Don't rush to praise, the downsides must also be mentioned
However, to be honest. It feels like after the pandemic, the quality control for Pizza Hut's dine-in might be a bit inconsistent. Some friends have complained to me that sometimes the pasta they get can be very subpar[6], and the service is also hit or miss. Prices have gone up, but the experience hasn't kept up. For this, you really need to be mentally prepared and not have too high expectations.
