Friends, who gets it? I was just strolling around the Puri Indah area in West Jakarta and found a gelato shop with a 4.9 rating on Google. I was planning to go in and Chill for a bit, but when I saw the menu, I was stunned…
"Scallion Oil Cheese" and"Indonesian Pancake (Martabak)" flavored Gelato?? Anjay! What kind of bizarre food is this! I was rolling my eyes so hard, I almost turned around and left.
Turns out… I was totally won over
The shop isn't big, but it's super clean and comfy, with a bit of a retro feel[1]. The owner is super nice; seeing how indecisive I was, he enthusiastically let me try several flavors[2].
And guess what! That limited edition one called Si Gurih (Martabak Gelato)[3] absolutely blew my mind! The savory scallion oil cheese gelato, paired with actual crispy Martabak skin, a hot-and-cold sensation, a mix of salty and sweet... Mantap! I really respect the creativity!
If you're not that adventurous, you can try their lokal flavor series. That Ketan Hitam (Black Glutinous Rice)[4] flavor is also amazing, with a rich black glutinous rice aroma.
