The result... well, how should I put it, it might be the biggest letdown I've experienced this year. 🤦♀️
The Huge Gap Between Expectation vs. Reality
When I first walked in, the live music atmosphere was undeniably great, the DJ was really good at spinning, and it felt quite legit. But the good impression only lasted for about ten minutes.
I quickly realized something was off. The entire indoor area was filled with smoke, with no windows or doors open. The air circulation was terrible, it was pure torture for a non-smoker to be inside, it stung my eyes so much I could barely keep them open[1]. I wanted to go to the restroom to cool down, but the sanitary conditions almost made me turn back... The toilets were either clogged or broken, the floor was soaking wet, and the smell was quite overpowering[2].
The food also left a lot to be desired. A friend told me that during a previous Iftar gathering, the food was set on the table half an hour early, so by the time they could eat, the pasta had clumped together, and all the dishes were cold[3]. Anjay, what a terrible experience.
Service and Safety? Non-existent!
If it were just issues with the environment and the food, I could have tolerated it, since I was there for the atmosphere, after all. But what happened next really made me furious.
We spent over 400,000 Rupiah, but we were seated in a tiny corner, with a table so small it couldn't even fit the dishes we ordered. We tried to move to a larger, empty table, but not even five minutes after we sat down, a waiter came over to kick us out, saying the table was reserved and telling us to move back[4]. Their attitude the whole time was as if we were there to freeload. When it was time to pay, it got even more ridiculous—we found out they even charge separately for ice cubes[5]?! I've never seen anything like it.
But the absolute most unacceptable thing was what I saw later when I was scrolling through Google reviews. A customer said their younger brother was assaulted by a stranger in the establishment for no reason, and the staff and security on site offered absolutely no help[6]!
