To be honest, I didn't have high hopes before coming to Balikpapan. But then my lokal friend brought me to this place, Scako Coffee, and I saw it had a 4.8 rating from nearly a thousand reviews on Google. I was thinking, how could this be real? Turns out... I was the one with a narrow view. Anjay, this place is really something.
The moment I walked in, the vibe was just right. It's not that over-the-top, try-hard influencer style, but a very Chill and cozy feeling[1]. There are seats both indoors and outdoors, so you can Nongkrong however you like. The best surprise was the live music. The volume was just perfect, not interrupting conversation at all, which was a huge plus! The service was also amazing. The guys and girls there had such genuine smiles and would gently explain the menu to you. The whole experience was top-notch[2].
The food quality was totally on point too. The Black Pepper Rice Bowl[3] I ordered had the black pepper flavor seasoned just right, and it was super appetizing. However, I have two small complaints: the indoor AC is blasting like it's Siberia, so for my friends who get cold easily, remember to bring a jacket; and the lighting is a bit dim.
