But when the menu arrived, the prices blew me away. The main courses were basically all around 30-40k rupiah[2]—these prices are unbelievably good! I got a bit cocky then—it's just a chicken cutlet, right?—so I went straight for the 200g large portion.
The chicken cutlet arrived, and I was dumbfounded…
The moment the food was brought to the table, I completely regretted my decision. This wasn't a chicken cutlet, it was a chicken "mattress"! A piece bigger than my face, it filled the entire plate. I ordered the Chicken Neon[3], a golden, crispy chicken cutlet drenched in a rich cheese sauce, served with fries and vegetables on the side. The aroma was so amazing it went straight to my head.
The outside of the chicken cutlet was fried super crispy, but the chicken breast inside was surprisingly not dry at all and was actually quite juicy[4]. But to be fair, this place isn't perfect. The day we went, we felt the overall flavor was a bit on the salty side[7], and it can get a bit much if you eat a lot. Also, the drink selection is really limited[8]. One glass of iced lemon tea was not enough to quench my thirst. I suggest the owner add a free-flow water option! Also, don't bother ordering the coffee. My friend said it was very weak and a total waste of money.
A veteran fan of the place also secretly told me that he feels the portions have shrunk a tiny bit compared to a few years ago[9], although for us, it was already too big to finish, haha.
