Just as I turned into Grand Kota Bintang in Bekasi, I thought my navigation was wrong, but I didn't expect to find such a hidden paradise. The whole restaurant is like a water village, with individual Saung huts surrounding a lake[1]. When the lights come on at night, the atmosphere is maxed out, and taking photos here is truly Mantap! 📸
There were a lot of us, so we booked a hut with air conditioning. The privacy was pretty good, and it's perfect for bringing the whole family to Nongkrong. The kids went crazy at the playground, and you can also buy fish food to feed the fish in the lake[2], so they weren't bored at all. It feels like this place was tailor-made for family gatherings.
After sitting down and ordering, we tried pretty much all the signature dishes. The Gurame Terbang (flying fish)[3] looked really impressive, but the taste... how should I put it, the piece I had was a bit muddy-tasting, which was a little disappointing. On the other hand, the Bakwan Jagung (corn fritters)[4] was a pleasant surprise; it was crispy and fragrant. But some friends complained that it wasn't as good as the ones from street stalls. But to be fair, the value for money at this place really isn't great. The portions are generally on the small side[5], and the prices are on the expensive side for Sundanese food. The grilled chicken we ordered was supposed to be half a chicken, but when it arrived, it looked like the size of a single chicken leg, it was a bit Anjay... 😅 Basically, you're just paying for the atmosphere.
