Girls, just got back from Bogor, and my feelings are mixed… I originally went for the famous Gumati restaurant, wanting to watch the Mount Salak sunset and just chill for a bit, but… Anjay, the experience was a real rollercoaster.
The moment I walked in, the view was truly a showstopper. Around 4 or 5 PM, the sun slowly set, offering a panoramic view of the mountains and the city of Bogor. It was so beautiful I was speechless[1]. In that moment, I thought, "Okay, this is worth it! Even the traffic jam from Jakarta was worth it!" But that feeling ended the moment I sat down—the rattan chair under me was old and broken, feeling like it could fall apart at any second[2].
The Food: A Mix of Hits and Misses
The restaurant now operates as a Sundanese buffet (Prasmanan), where you grab a plate and choose your own dishes. The absolute best part had to be the free, unlimited refills of Sayur Asem and Sambal[3]! The sour soup was authentic, and the sambal was so spicy it made you sweat. It went perfectly with rice, Mantap!

The worst part was, in the free self-serve raw vegetables (lalapan), I found a tiny... um... snail... 🤢 My appetite was instantly halved[6].

Honestly, if it weren't for the view, I probably would have flipped the table. The service was appallingly slow; waiting over an hour after ordering is the norm[7]. The tables were dirty, and the floor was sticky. The average cost per person is nearly 170,000 IDR[8]. For this level of service and hygiene? The value for money is really quite low.
