Back in the day, this place was hyped up as one of Asia's top nightclubs[1], with multiple floors and different music styles, it was basically a mecca for clubbing enthusiasts. On this trip to Bali, I was thinking of reliving the old days, but the result… Anjay! Reality gave me a huge slap in the face. 🤦♀️
Took the elevator up, and the iconic Rooftop was already closed—they said it'll be another year before it reopens[2]. Man... out of the 8 bustling halls they used to have, only two are still open now, and even at 2 AM on a Friday, it wasn't even half full[3]. The music was deafening, but the songs the DJ played felt like the same old set from years ago, the vibe on site was a bit awkward, and all I could see were drunk Australian tourists and some older guys[4]. It was hard to even find a spot to Nongkrong.
I ordered a cocktail, and the taste was... hard to describe. It felt like drinking colored sugar water, with a barely noticeable amount of alcohol[5]. My friend said a lot of people online complain about their drinks, and that some even felt sick after drinking them, which scared me so much I didn't dare to order anything else.

In short, the Sky Garden of the past is now just a relic of a bygone era. If you just want to check a"historical" site off your list, or you're just after a cheap buffet
- Wallet and safety first! There are tons of posts online about theft and even extortion by security staff[6]. I personally saw someone arguing with a security guard, and the atmosphere was tense. So, keep your phone and wallet close to you at all times, don't let them out of your sight!
- Entrance fee depends on your gender. Guys have to pay an entrance fee of 100k-200k Indonesian Rupiah[7], while girls might get in for free during certain times. This policy is a bit weird, but you have to accept it if you want to go.
- Don't go for the rooftop! I'll say it again, the Rooftop is closed! Closed! Closed![8] If you're going for that unbeatable night view, you can just go somewhere else.
- Be cautious with the drinks and buffet. Although there's an all-you-can-drink-and-eat package starting from 99k[9], which sounds like a great deal, given the overwhelming number of negative reviews about the drinks and food (including cases of food poisoning[10]), my friends with sensitive stomachs should definitely think twice.
