Midnight Ramadan

1. Martabak Pecenongan 65A
A legendary martabak spot loaded with toppings, perfect for late-night sharing.
“My all-time favorite martabak in Indonesia sih ini, especially their martabak manis (Indonesian sweet pancake) which is beyond words rasanya. I used to like their chocolate and banana martabak, but I think it's already discontinued to produce. Their classic mix of cheese, chocolate, and peanut is perfection. You can also try their chees and corn martabak, which is also excellent and cheesy melted in your mouth. Their tipis kering martabak is also gewd. Their martabak telur is thick, full of flavor and filling inside but crunchy outside. It's worth every penny to buy this high-end martabak in town. The best I've ever consumed.”

3. Martabak Kubang Hayuda
Thick Padang-style savory martabak packed with bold flavor.
“These are my several top menus that I always get whenever I visit this place: 1. Martabak kubang. Pick the regular or special one, doesn't matter because they taste quite the same with sauce anyway. 2. Soto padang. It hits close to home for the authentic minang cuisine. 3. Roti Canai. It's a sweet butter-heavy bread which you can order as a dessert with cheese and chocolate bits or appetizer with lamb curry. 4. Kopi Talua. Basically coffee mixed with egg yolk stirred with condensed milk. You can't find it anywhere unless the restaurant have a peranakan specialty cuisine. The coffee taste varily but always 👌 Notes: - mind you that this restaurant is one of the go-to place for lunch - no vallet but you can ask any parking boys around for a spot - better visit for dinner - they have sodas mixed with egg yolk if you are so damn edgy about it”

6. Es Teler 77 Resto - Adityawarman
A classic refreshing dessert to balance heavier night bites.
“My family and I love Es Teler 77!! I have lots of memories from my childhood of going to the restaurant with my sisters and mom. Been craving their otak-otak (a must try 💯) for a while, and today we accidentally drove past this branch and immediately decided to stop by. The place itself could do with a little bit of upkeep, especially the air conditioning, but everything else is awesome! We ordered one otak-otak and one es teler to share. When the food arrived, they gave us two forks and an extra es teler glass without us asking!! The service is incredible and I'm so happy to find that the quality of their food hasn't changed a bit 😊”

7. Pisang Goreng Madu Bu Nanik
Crispy honey fried bananas, a late-night favorite.
“Who love Banana?… than this is the right place for you to find the best fried banana in Jakarta. Pisang Goreng Madu (means Fried Banana with Honey) is a banana covered flour and sweatend with honey. The banana is ripe banana so it taste sweet and when it deep fried, the banana will caramelize. It makes the banana more sweet, even without adding some sugar. At Bu Nanik, they also add cokelat so it makes more sweet and a bit milky. The banana was fried until in turn to darkbrown, make more sweet with a bit bitter. Bitter in this case coming from over caramelized sugar. For me that sweet, milky and bitter combination are perfect, so the fried banana not only taste sweet but there are also a bit bitter and milky. In addition to fried banana, the also has a fried tofu (tahu goreng) and shrimp bakwan. Those two are more tasty. Fried food (fritter) is very popular in Indonesia and usually treat it as light bite food. But some fritter sometimes more filling since the basic ingredient of the food itself is fullof carbs.”

8. Ropang OTW Cempaka Putih
Modern toast spot with generous portions for group hangouts.
“This is a very creative ropang menus that i have ever seen. Be it a sweet or savoury fillings, they are very well presented n looking appealing too. The single roasted bread is moist n soft, have plenty of fillings too. Both pandan nougat n plain garlic cheese one are tasty. The telur gulung was nice too, the feature kinda like balinese skewer but with eggs only. This came with chilli sauce n mayonaise. A nice kick indeed. Will definitely try other menus.”

9. Kedai Tjikini
Local comfort food and desserts in a cozy Jakarta setting.
“The Tjikini is the cafe plus restaurant with unique concept. They have a lot of menu started from Indonesian herbal, coffee (originally from Indonesia) and also Indonesian food such as Gado-gado (salad with peanut mayo), Soup and mostly Javanese taste. This place offering some historical colonial building, outside or inside the building. The building more likely decorated with Holland style. They also have small mosque for Moslem to pray, clean rest room and dividing their into two separated area (Smoking room and non smoking). Located in central Jakarta, this place is a highly recommended place for you if you want coffee with historical vibes”

10. Anomali Coffee Menteng
Quality Indonesian coffee to pair with your late-night snacks.
“I have been a regular customer of Anomali since 2016 and I cannot be more satisfied with my experience here. The coffee shop is located in Menteng and has a warm, homey ambiance. The smoking area at the front is hotter and dirtier, but feels more relaxed, while the indoor area is clean and comfortable. The decor showcases the coffee beans and various coffee brewing equipment, which is a nice touch. The coffee served here is top-notch, with the local beans being brewed to perfection using the V60 method. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and even remember your name if you visit often enough. Despite some staff changes over the years, the quality of service remains consistent and I have even made new friends here. The prices for coffee are very reasonable, especially for manual brews compared to other coffee shops. The food menu offers a range of options from side dishes to main courses, but can be a bit pricey. Anomali is my go-to spot when I need to escape work and recharge. The atmosphere is comforting and the friendly staff only adds to the positive experience. Parking is easy, with free spots available in the morning and early afternoon, but the valet service is a convenient option if the lot is full. The Wi-Fi is strong and charging outlets are readily available, both inside and outside. Overall, I highly recommend Anomali to anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing coffee shop experience.”
