Every time I come to the Condet area, it's like opening a blind box. This time, I followed my GPS and circled around Jl. Raya Condet for a while, and almost drove right past it. The sign at the entrance is pathetically small[1], and I was wondering to myself if this place was even any good...
Once inside, hmm... it's definitely not a place that focuses on aesthetics. The environment is just a simple, family-style eatery, and the lighting is even a bit dim[2], but thankfully it's air-conditioned and clean. There are regular tables and chairs, as well as a lesehan (floor seating) area with Persian carpets. The vibe is pretty chill.
The Food Arrived and I Was Left Speechless
The moment our signature Nasi Mandi[3] hit the table, the aroma went straight to my head! The rice grains were perfectly distinct, full of spice but not at all overpowering. But the highlight was the lamb (Kambing)[4]! Anjay, it was so tender it should be illegal! The skin was nicely charred, and the meat fell right off the bone with a gentle nudge of a spoon. There wasn't a hint of gaminess, just pure, savory, juicy flavor. Mantap!
