Just came out of this Mie Gacoan at Summarecon Bandung, feeling a bit complicated...😅 To sum it up in one sentence: The ambiance and service are poles apart (one in heaven, one on earth).
This place claims to be"Indonesia's No. 1 Spicy Noodle"[1], quite a bold statement. As soon as I walked in, I was truly surprised, the space is ridiculously huge! High ceilings, tons of seats, even coming during peak meal times on the weekend, it doesn't feel crowded or noisy, this definitely deserves a big thumbs up. The environment is clean and bright, and the restrooms and prayer rooms are also well-maintained[2], it doesn't feel like a place where the average spend is only ten or twenty thousand rupiah per person at all, super suitable for students or a big group of friends to Nongkrong.

Sat down and got straight to the point, ordered their signature noodles. But honestly, their spice level standards are really a bit arbitrary... The Level 1 spice I ordered this time completely silenced me, it was even more intense than the Level 3 I had at another branch last time[3]. Those who love spicy food will probably find it very Mantap, but friends who can't handle spice should order with caution!
However, the snacks and drinks really saved me!
If you don't like sweet soy sauce noodles, you can try their Mie Hompimpa[4], which is a savory white noodle, officially recommended!
- Udang Keju (Cheese Shrimp)[5]: This is a must-order! The crust is crispy, and the cheese and shrimp filling inside bursts in your mouth with one bite, Anjay! So delicious I wanted to pack a few portions to take home.
- Es Gobak Sodor (Signature Fruit Ice)[6]: When the spice gets too much, taking a big sip of this is simply heavenly! It has a faint rose aroma, and inside there are pears, strawberries, grass jelly, various jellies – a true spice-relief savior!

Done with the praise, now for the complaints. The service and process at this place can really drive you crazy.
First, the cashier's attitude... it's hard to describe, a cold face throughout, and they couldn't be bothered to answer a question[7]. Secondly, the ordering process is extremely confusing; after scanning to order, you can't pay directly, you still have to go to the counter to queue and pay[8]. Finally, orders are especially prone to errors! I personally saw the table next to us order non-spicy noodles, and they came out spicy[9].

Although there are many things to complain about, given the price and ambiance, I guess everyone will still go. I've compiled a few tips to avoid pitfalls for you, you're welcome to take them!
- 1. Ordering Process: First find a seat -> Scan the QR code on the table to order -> Go to the cashier to state your seat number and queue to pay. It's recommended to bring two phones, one for ordering and one for scanning to pay[10], otherwise, switching back and forth is very troublesome.
- 2. Check Your Order: After paying, absolutely! Absolutely double-check your receipt carefully, especially the spice level and quantity of dishes. If there's a mistake, tell them immediately[11].
- 3. Picking Up Food by Yelling: Food pickup relies on a loudspeaker calling out numbers, the sound isn't very clear, so pay close attention and listen carefully.
- 4. Parking is a Headache: The parking attendants at the entrance are also quite unreliable, and the fees are inconsistent[12], so be mentally prepared.
- 5. Note for Families with Kids: There are only two baby high chairs in the store[13], so families with babies might have to try their luck.
- Massive space, high ceilings. Never crowded, even peak weekend [1]—unbelievably cheap for a 10-20k IDR spot!
- Must-order Udang Keju (Cheese Shrimp) [2]! Crispy, cheesy shrimp filling bursts—you'll want to pack extras home.
