As soon as I got to Banjarbaru, my friend dragged me to this place, CALMA Coffee, saying it's a hidden gem tucked inside a Guesthouse. Sunlight, green plants, blue pool water, the whole vibe is totally Bali Chill style![1]
The indoor area has air conditioning, perfect for someone like me who can't stand the heat and needs to work on a laptop; the outdoor area is right next to the pool, and it must be even more Mantap when the lights come on at night. We ordered a few of their signature items, and I really have to praise the French Toast[2]. It was soft, fluffy, and sweet, no wonder it's a best seller and often sold out. There was also a Mocktail called Lychee Springs[3] that my friend ordered. I took a sip, Whoa, crazy good! It was unbelievably refreshing and perfect for beating the heat. The portions are also quite generous; I feel like one main course is enough for two girls to share[4].
BUT! The good experience ended there... Here come the complaints, girls, listen up! We went during the lunch rush, and as soon as it got crowded, the staff just disappeared. The food came out so slowly it made me question my existence[5]. My friend's rice dish came out cold, and the rice was a bit hard[6], which instantly ruined the experience. Although the outdoor scenery is nice, the plastic chairs were a bit of a letdown, and the restroom was, ummm... let's just say it's hard to describe[7].
