Anjay, my friends in Palembang are so good at keeping secrets! They led me through a bunch of twists and turns into a pitch-black alley. My GPS just gave up at the entrance of the alley[1], and I thought I was about to get sold… Turns out it was all for a bite of this legendary fried kway teow! 😂
The 'Wok Hei' is Insane! This is the Real Old-School Chinese Flavor
Don't expect much from the ambiance. It's a typical roadside eatery, super crowded and noisy, but the lively, bustling atmosphere is off the charts! The owner and the waiters were moving like they were on fast-forward, turning over tables super fast[2]. It's got that total old-school hustle and bustle.
We ordered their signature Kwetiau Goreng[3], and I was stunned when it was served… Are you sure this portion isn't for a whole family?![4] The kway teow is homemade, thick and moist, and coated in a rich, thick sauce. They were so generous with the pork, shrimp, and fish balls. Every bite had that long-missed 'wok hei' from being stir-fried over a blazing fire! Mantap! The flavor is absolutely incredible, no wonder it's certified by locals as "Palembang's Number One."
We also added a side of Babi Goreng[5], fried to a perfect crisp. Paired with the moist kway teow, the texture combination was out of this world! The two of us ordered a full table of food, and the final bill was less than 190k. The value for money is ridiculously good.

Even though the kway teow is god-tier, I have to be fair. Their Nasi Goreng[6] is also good, with plenty of ingredients, but compared to the mind-blowing kway teow, it just doesn't seem as special. The ambiance is really basic, so girls looking for an Instagrammable spot or a fine dining experience can just skip this one. This place is purely for the food, for that authentic taste!
