Honestly, when I first pulled up to this place, Balekita, I was a bit hesitant. It just seemed like an ordinary farmhouse-style restaurant. But after sitting down, especially when night fell, I was like, anjay! This place is so chill!
A "Little Bali" Hidden in Tangerang
The whole restaurant is built over a large pond, with individual thatched-roof huts (Saung) serving as private rooms, offering perfect privacy. It might be a bit sunny during the day, but at night, when the lights turn on, the water reflects the twinkling lights, a gentle breeze blows by, and there are absolutely no mosquitoes. It's so comfortable you'll want to just lie back and Nongkrong all night[1].
You can not only eat here but also go fishing! It's an absolutely perfect spot to bring the kids or your dad. Watching the uncles next to us catch fish after fish is really interesting.
When It Comes to the Food, I Have to Be Fair
The food is mainly Sundanese, and there's a huge selection. I have to give a massive shout-out to their Sambal[2]! The flavor is absolutely authentic, it's perfectly spicy and so addictive. Paired with fresh vegetables (lalapan), I could eat three bowls of rice! Their signature grilled fish, Ikan Bakar[3], is also good; the fish is very tender and worth a try.
But, let's be honest. Maybe it's because I prefer stronger flavors, but I found a couple of the dishes a bit bland[4]. However, overall, that doesn't overshadow the good parts, especially considering the atmosphere and the reasonable prices, I think it's Mantap! The portions are generous too; the few of us ordered a table full of food and were completely stuffed[5].
