To be fair, the ambiance of this place is truly Mantap! The walls are covered in traditional Torajan carvings[1], which blend perfectly with the modern design, maxing out the atmosphere. The lighting, music, decor... you can see the owner's good taste in every detail. Spending an afternoon here to Nongkrong is really chill, and every corner looks like a scene from a movie.
When the menu came, we just ordered a few things randomly. And the result... Anjay! Are they serious with these portions? One dish is enough for two people; they've really nailed the value for money[2]. My friend strongly recommended the signature fried rice, Nasi Goreng Aras[3], which was full of 'wok hei' and tasted really good. And that addictive palm sugar coffee, Kopi Gula Aren[4], was so good I want to write a whole separate post just to praise it! I also saw the table next to us order the Buffalo Steak[5], which looked very unique and is something you rarely see elsewhere.
BUT… The Quality Control is Like a Blind Box
Time for the main point, girls. The quality control at this place is really like opening a blind box. My food was okay, but the dishes my friend ordered were... hard to describe... Later, I scrolled through the reviews, and oh my god, someone actually got food poisoning[6]?! I really have to give a heads-up about this: friends with sensitive stomachs should be cautious.
The service is the same. Some people said the staff was super nice[7], but the ones we encountered that day were a bit... unresponsive? Maybe they were in a bad mood because it was crowded. So, if you're just going for the environment and photos, go for it. But if you're going for an "unparalleled delicacy," I'd suggest lowering your expectations.
