Girls, I'm shook. I didn't have high hopes for this trip to Semarang, but my friend dragged me to this spot in the Old Town, and it completely blew my mind.
The moment I pushed the door open, I literally said "WOW" out loud! This isn't just a restaurant; it's like stepping back in time to a European opera house from 1874[1]! Super high ceilings, a vintage and gorgeous stage—I felt like a noble lady in a poofy dress would walk out any second. The whole vibe was just on another level. Every shot is a blockbuster, no wonder it's a local landmark. ✨
The Food is a Pleasant Surprise, Not a Scare
I thought a place that's all about the ambiance would just have food that's all for show, but the dishes were actually Mantap! We ordered a few things randomly, and pretty much nothing was a miss.
After 7 PM, there's also live music[2]. The day we went happened to be a jazz night, and the whole vibe was so Chill. When the lights dim and the music starts, you feel like the main character in a movie. 🎬
- Mac and Cheese Bitterballen[3]: This is my top recommendation! It's fried to a golden crisp on the outside, and inside is melt-in-your-mouth mac and cheese. Savory and rich, Anjay! You can't stop at just one.
- Wagyu Sei Pizza[4]: They were super generous with the smoked wagyu, paired with crispy king oyster mushrooms, the layers of flavor were incredible. Plus, the portion size is huge[5]; the two of us girls were full just from sharing one.
- Cendol Panna Cotta[6]: For dessert, you have to try this! I thought it would be a weird combination, but it was surprisingly delicious! The combination of Italian panna cotta and Indonesian cendol is smooth and wonderfully unique. So creative.

Of course, I have to be honest. This place is super popular, so there might be a minimum charge[7] if you come on a weekend night; it's best to ask in advance. The most frustrating part is the mosquitoes. So! Many! Mosquitoes![8] I went wearing shorts, and my legs were covered in bites, so itchy I started questioning my life choices.
