Every time I pass by SCBD, I always see Beer Hall buzzing with people. Today, I finally came to Nongkrong with a friend to see what this legendary"after-work happy place" for Jakarta's office workers is really all about.
But as soon as I walked in, whoa… This isn't a bar, it's practically a live house venue! The music was so loud I thought I'd walked onto the wrong movie set... 🤯
The space itself is truly incredible, with super high ceilings, large exposed red brick walls, and warm, yellow industrial-style lighting. The vibe is maxed out, perfect for a big group of friends or colleagues to come and Chill.
But for a place called Beer Hall, the beer selection was surprisingly a bit disappointing. The menu looked extensive, but when we asked, there were only three or five options available[1], which was a little disappointing.
However! I never expected the food here to be such a huge, pleasant surprise! The stone-oven Mushroom Pizza[2] came out, with a fragrant, crispy crust and an incredible cheese pull. What amazed me the most was the Nasi Babi Garing Sambal Matah[3]! The pork was roasted until it was super crispy, paired with fresh, spicy Sambal Matah. It was so spicy it made me sweat, but I just couldn't stop eating, Mantap! Who gets it? Coming to a beer hall just for a bowl of pork rice!
