Who says Legian has no good spots for Nongkrong? This sunset bar begs to differ
Don’t write off Legian for sunset drinks just yet! Tucked away in the Anantara hotel is a hidden gem of a bar that's all about chill vibes. Forget flashy decor; this spot focuses on what truly matters: an unbeatable ocean view, live music, and stunning tropical cocktails perfect for photos. It’s the ideal, relaxed alternative to the usual crowded scenes, offering a front-row seat to Bali's spectacular sunset.
Every time friends come to Bali, they're always clamoring to go to Canggu or Seminyak to watch the sunset, as if Legian is some old-fashioned relic from a bygone era. Anjay! Seriously, if I hadn't happened to be staying nearby this time, I might have completely missed this hidden gem tucked away in the Anantara hotel.
It doesn't bother with all those flashy, Instagram-famous installations; it's just simple outdoor seating, facing the ocean[1], with an unbeatable view. We got there a little after 5 PM, the sun was lazily hanging in the sky, the sea breeze was blowing, and the live music[2] had just started. The whole vibe was just pure Chill~😌
My friend and I each ordered a cocktail[3]. The presentation was on point, full of tropical vibes, and perfect for photos. And here's the best part: the food was absolutely spot-on! The signature Tacos[4] are a must-order. The tortillas were soft, and they were super generous with the filling—so satisfying in one bite. We also tried the Mexican Pizza[5], which had a thin crust and crispy edges. The flavor was top-notch, great for a few people to share. There were also Nachos[6], served with salsa and guacamole. Watching the sunset slowly dip into the ocean, it doesn't get much better than this! I spotted the table next to us order a beef tenderloin steak[7], and it looked amazing too. I'll have to try it next time. 🥩
But to be honest, because it's located inside a resort, the atmosphere leans more towards families and couples on a date[8], lacking a bit of the wild vibe of a street-side joint. If you're looking for that super lokal, hole-in-the-wall Taco spot where you can drink with the owner until midnight, this might not be your cup of tea. But if you just want to quietly and comfortably watch a gorgeous sunset and have a solid Mexican meal at the same time, then this place is absolutely Mantap👍.
