Calling all Jakarta office workers! I found the perfect escape from SCBD's after-work traffic 🍷
Stuck in SCBD traffic? Ditch the jam and find your elegant escape at Cork&Screw in Pacific Place. This cozy spot is perfect for unwinding after work, offering a chill vibe that’s ideal for conversation, not a noisy bar scene. More than just an extensive wine selection, it serves a fantastic fusion of Western and Indonesian cuisine that gets rave reviews. It's the perfect hideout to let the evening rush pass you by in style.
Every time quitting time hits and I see SCBD jammed into a red parking lot, my whole mood is ruined. 🤯 I recently finally dug up a hidden gem, right in Pacific Place, perfect for avoiding the evening rush hour and having an elegant chill session.
This Cork&Screw is no secret, a veteran player from the Union Group, but the vibe this PP branch gives me is just—solid! It's not one of those noisy bars, more like a cozy living room lined with wine bottles[1], the music volume is just right, especially suitable for Nongkrong and chatting with friends.
Not just the drinks, the food is Anjay good too!
Don't think this is just a wine cellar, their food absolutely doesn't disappoint. A fusion of Western and Indonesian cuisine, you basically can't go wrong ordering randomly.
- Carbonara[2]: Truly Mantap! The pasta is that chewy al dente kind, and the rich egg yolk sauce coats every single strand, it's intoxicatingly fragrant.
- Soto Betawi[3]: Who would've thought you could get such an authentic Indonesian oxtail soup at a Western restaurant! The broth is incredibly rich, the beef is stewed until it's tender and flavorful, and one sip feels like it cures all the fatigue from a day at work.
- Cocktails: I ordered a watermelon mint cocktail recommended by the waiter[4], and drinking this on a humid Jakarta evening is just so refreshing! The fresh mint paired with the sweetness of the watermelon is just the right level of sweet, love it, love it.
Let's be real (rant session)
To be fair, the prices aren't cheap for the SCBD area, a cocktail is around 150k[5], but considering the location and quality, I think it's worth it. However, the smoking and non-smoking areas aren't separated very well[6], so for friends who are sensitive to smoke, it's best to make a note when booking.
Also, the service is mostly on point, but it can be a bit slow when it gets crowded[7], but just relax, you're here to chill after all.
Tips from the heart
All in all, this is definitely a can't-go-wrong choice in the SCBD area. Whether it's for a couple's date, a small get-together with friends, or you just want a place to zone out after work, it's a great option. @ your eating buddy, let's plan our next hangout here
- 1. Definitely make a reservation! Especially during the golden hours after work, this place is a go-to spot for office workers nearby, and walking in directly will most likely mean you'll have to wait[8].
- 2. Choose the right seat! If you're there to chat, remember to request to be "away from the speaker" when booking, otherwise the music might be a bit loud[9].
- 3. Go for Happy Hour! For the friends who want to drink champagne, take note, they have a discount on Moët during happy hour[10], which makes the value for money go way up!
- 4. How to get there? It's on the ground floor of Pacific Place, you can enter from inside or outside the mall, very convenient.
